Synopsis

The villain isn't supposed to be king. I have a simple plan: finish Royal Elite School and get into my dream university. One glance from the school's king blows my plan up in smoke. One glance and he suffocates my air. One glance and he issues his death sentence. His first words spiral my life into irreparable chaos: 'I will destroy you.' Everything about Aiden King is black. Black mind. Black heart. Black soul. I should've remained quiet and endured the time I have left. I didn't. I made the irrevocable mistake of provoking the king on his throne. The devil in his hell. And now I'll pay the price. Being hated by Aiden King is dangerous. But being wanted by him is lethal.

My review

Deviant King was my entry point into dark romance and into Rina Kent, who is now one of my favorite authors. And what an entry point it is. Aiden King is not a hero — he doesn't pretend to be, he doesn't try, and that is exactly what makes him so addictive. Rina Kent writes antiheroes with an unapologetic conviction, and Aiden is the darkest, most obsessive version of that archetype. Elsa, for her part, is no passive damsel — she resists, she fights back, and she refuses to bend even when the world around her leaves very little room to stand. What hooked me most was the layer of mystery running beneath everything: the shared past between Aiden and Elsa is revealed in fragments that leave you wanting more. This is the first book of a trilogy and it shows — the ending launches you straight into the next one. A story that made me fall in love with dark, obsessive heroes and with Rina Kent.
