★★★★★Synopsis
ADRIANO. Love. What a pathetic, absurd illusion. A fairy tale spun for weak, useless bastards, too blind to grasp the world as it truly is. The world is a rotting, godforsaken wasteland where only lies and deception thrive. Everyone wears a mask. Everyone hides a blade. There are no saints here. I swore by that claim for years, until I met her. A single innocent soul in a world drenched in sin. A ray of sunshine in the bottomless black abyss, a delicate flower from whom I must stay as far away as possible. I can't. I am going to steal her light, even knowing it was never meant for me. IRIS. Love. The most powerful feeling in the world. It can make you soar through the gates of heaven, or willingly descend into the fires of Hell, just to save the person you refuse to live without. And I do just that. I tie myself to a man who is uncaring of anything except wealth and power. A man who believes that everything can be bought, including a person's life. He has no mercy. No soul. Only ice in his terrible, frozen heart.
The protagonists
IRIS
THE RAY OF SUNSHINE
A pure soul in a world drenched in sin. Hardworking, determined, and willing to do anything to save her sick mother, her only unconditional support. Her kindness is exactly what disarms the coldest man in the mafia.
ADRIANO
THE FROZEN HEART
Forty-three years old, no soul, no mercy, only ice in his terrible frozen heart. Or so he believed, until he met Iris. Possessive, jealous, and willing to burn the whole world down for her.
My review
What a great way to close one of my favorite series. Neva Altaj did not disappoint with this story — I fell in love with the book and with its protagonists. Iris is exactly the kind of lovely heroine who lights up every page: kind, determined, willing to do anything to save her mother, never losing that purity that drives Adriano crazy. And Adriano... a hero with a frozen heart, obsessive and possessive to the core, who falls completely for the only person capable of melting all that coldness. The age gap, the slow burn tension, and that "touch my woman and you die" dynamic are perfectly executed. An ending that feels like a gift for those of us who have followed this saga from the very beginning. I loved it.
