Heated Rivalry
Game Changers · Book 2
Rachel Reid
★★★★★Synopsis
Nothing interferes with Shane Hollander's game, least of all the rival he loves to hate. He is a pro hockey star with enormous talent and a spotless reputation, and now that he is captain of the Montreal Voyageurs he has no intention of putting any of that at risk, especially not for the Russian whose body keeps him awake at night. Ilya Rozanov, captain of the Boston Bears, is everything Shane is not, the self proclaimed king of the ice, as cocky as he is talented. Nobody can beat him, except Shane. In public they are declared enemies and their rivalry built both their careers, but in private they cannot stop reaching for each other. The smart thing would be to walk away, especially once a few secret hookups turn into a struggle to keep their relationship out of the press, because the truth could ruin them both. The problem is that as the seasons go by, needing each other starts to weigh as much as winning.
The protagonists
Shane Hollander
Captain of the Montreal Voyageurs
Captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, as talented as he is spotless, guarding his reputation like it is part of his contract. Hockey is his entire life and he is not willing to risk it for anything, least of all for the Russian who keeps him up at night. His arc is accepting who he is and how much he is willing to lose for it.
Ilya Rozanov
Captain of the Boston Bears
Captain of the Boston Bears and self proclaimed king of the ice, as cocky as he is good, and the one player Shane cannot easily beat. Behind the constant teasing there is a man far lonelier than he lets on, far from his country with no one to go home to. He is the first to want more and the first to understand what that means.
My review
I am OBSESSED.
After my FYP filled up with edits from the show, I fell in love with all the tension they were putting out there, so I decided to read the book and oh my God, what a gem. Ufff, addiction level.
Shane and Ilya have spent years building a legendary rivalry on the ice, and off it they have spent those same years meeting in secret. We follow them from the draft onward, season after season, while what started as pure tension turns into something neither of them knows how to name or how to let go of.
Who is this for?
For anyone who came for the edits on their FYP and wants the whole story
For readers who want rivals to lovers with a secret relationship and a decade of built up tension
For anyone who enjoys MM sports romance with incredible chemistry and a slow burn worth every page
