My review

It took me a while to read this book — work has been consuming me and I was in the middle of a reading slump — but once I started making progress, I couldn't put it down. We already had a bit of context about this pair from earlier books in the series, and honestly I love that the stories happen in the same time frame: so many questions get answered and everything starts to click into place. The relationship between Marcus and Preston is intense and toxic, exactly the way Rina always delivers, and the ending... what a way to suffer. Now I'm left wanting to read so much more about this side of Rina's universe, and about all those characters who keep getting mentioned and who I hope we get to know more of soon.
