Friends, I fell completely in love with this book 💚 With its characters, its plot and the way every single thread came together. Without thinking twice, Mate is already one of my favorite reads of the year so far 😌💕

We pick up right where Bride ends, and I highly recommend reading that one first 🙂‍↕️ Serena is facing life as one of only two known hybrids, and to protect little Ana she decides to pull all the media attention onto herself. That brings her more than a few problems, from attacks and a bounty on her head to becoming the political center of every fight between the species. And as if that weren't enough, it turns out she's the mate of Koen, the Alpha of the Northwest pack.

Koen has always put his pack's well-being above everything, and the last thing he wants is a mate who distracts him from taking care of his people. But when Serena is attacked he decides to protect her, because the truth is he just can't stop worrying about her 🤭 And between secrets and lies, the relationship between them grows little by little...

I loved being inside Serena's head. She's such a charming character, funny, loyal to the bone and with this habit of carrying everything on her own so nobody worries, which makes you want to hug her and shake her at the same time. And Koen... Koen is a total book boyfriend, friends. An alpha who gets things done, grumpy and blunt on the outside, but pure care when it comes to her. I'm completely in love with the man 💚🙂‍↕️

I laughed way too much at the dynamic between Serena and Misery 😂, and honestly at any moment where Misery was up to her usual antics. Their friendship is still one of the best things about this universe, and Koen's pack steals your heart too.

Serena and Koen gave me butterflies 🦋 more than once. The tension between them simmers slowly, and with a pack rule standing in their way, it feels a little forbidden too. When it finally explodes... the spice, oh my 🔥🌝 And those of us who read werewolf books knew exactly what was going on haha 😌 but I loved all the drama Serena went through because of it.

Beyond the romance, there's real mystery, a past that slowly comes to light and a couple of twists I didn't see coming. And of course, a happily ever after they truly earn.

Content warnings: past child abuse and neglect, a cult and its ideology, graphic violence and gunshot wounds, kidnapping, suicide of a secondary character, death of a main character's parents (in the past), explicit sexual scenes with heat dynamics typical of omegaverse.
